Our Brewing
A classic tale of beer tasting his way through his 1980s OE, Wigram Brewing Company’s founder Paul McGurk upgraded his Hokitika beer palate to the continent's rich beer traditions & flavours. Returning to NZ he started garage full mash brewing, with the support of wife Caroline built a craft brewery, and put down WBC’s first brew on 8 December 2002 with brewers Paul Cooper and Paul & Caroline’s eldest boy Joe.
Wigram took flight.
Many brewers have had a hand in Wigram’s impressive range of beers. From Brew Master Paul Coopers brewing expertise in the early years to our eldest boy Joe, Thomas Deverson, Nigel Mahoney, Andy Duchars, and today Jimmy Fyfe & PJ Wiemers who are putting their own spin on the brews.
There have been many passionate hands in our beers creations and we are grateful to them all.
A post covid pivot has seen Wigram open a Taproom, Kitchen and Fillery. which is gearing up to include regular local bands.
Our exceptional beers are now paired with damn good pizzas, burgers & Makikihi Fries, a blend of beer & food chemistry that cannot be beaten
