2014 Brewers' Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards
6th of October, 2014
Along with Three Boys Brewery, our top team here at The Wigram Brewing Company won three of the 15 category prizes!
This year Coots was in attendance at the Awards Ceremony held in Wellington. He did a great job of proudly representing our Christchurch-based Craft Brewery, providing a cheerful Wigram Brewing presence in the midst of a great many other New Zealand and International Craft Brewers.
This year there was a record 670 beers entered from 84 breweries, 74 of which were proud New Zealand breweries.
The judging gets harder each year as more Kiwis are getting into beer and cider brewing, so the selection is ever increasing and competitive spirits (excuse the pun) are high.
This year celebrated the eighth year of the Brewers' Guild New Zealand Beer Awards, which is an international competion, attracting craft brewers from all over the world to take part against New Zealand's talented brewing teams.
The judging was undertaken by a panel of 25, consisting of national and internationally qualified judges. This year hard working brewers received a total of 61 gold, 121 silver and 169 bronze medals.
And the Award goes to...
Spruce Beer - Gold Medal and a Gong (Trophy)
Tornado Strong Ale - Gold Medal and a Gong
Mustang Pale Ale - Silver Medal
Propeller Lager - Bronze Medal
Bristol Best Bitter - Bronze Medal
The Czar Imperial Stout - Bronze Medal
Morning Glory Golden Ale Breakfast Beer - Bronze Medal
We'd like to say a big thank you to the organisers and judges of the Brewers' Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards, and a special thanks to Coots for representing us in Wellington and carrying home all our shiny new awards.
Good on ya Wigram Brewing!
